NAME: Lunafreya Nox Fleuret
CANON: Final Fantasy XV
CANON POINT: End of Chapter 9 and Episode Ignis.
AGE: 24
BACKGROUND: Wiki.
PERSONALITY: Lunafreya is, by default, someone who takes her duty as Oracle very seriously. So much so that she will easily disregard her own health and safety to put her duties first and foremost, whether it be to summon Astrals for Noctis or to heal someone suffering from the Starscourge. She will openly admit that she does not fear death, and will even act recklessly if it means doing what she needs to do -- this includes hijacking and then throwing herself off of a moving Imperial airship to get onto a balcony so that she can reach the former King Regis during Insomnia's fall, so that she can be at his side, and at another point, trying to put the Ring of the Lucii on, which would have more than likely killed her. She was stopped by Nyx Ulric before she could put it all the way on, but she was very much willing to give her life up to the Lucii if it meant keeping Nyx safe and stopping General Glauca, the man who killed King Regis just hours earlier right in front of her, from taking the Ring for himself and delivering it into the Empire's greedy hands.
At one point, Lunafreya is stabbed, a wound that, combined with the loss of life force from forging covenants with the Gods, is fatal. The sea goddess Leviathan is raging, and Noctis has fallen, injured and unable to get up. Using what little strength she has left, she uses her magic to awaken the spirits of the former Kings and Queens of Lucis, who revive the fallen prince and allow him to get up and finish what was started. Afterwards, when he receives Leviathan's blessing, she uses the last of her magic to not only heal Noctis, but to also safely pass the Ring of the Lucii to him and say a final goodbye.
Though she may have passed away, her duties don't end in death. As Oracle to the Chosen King, Lunafreya's spirit is unable to rest until Noctis fulfills his own destiny and the light is returned to their star. She made a promise to the people of Eos, and she is determined to keep it.
While she's very serious about her duty, that doesn't mean that she's a mean or bad person. In fact, it's quite the opposite! Luna cares deeply for everyone -- friend or acquaintance, she's got a very big heart and will do what she can to help if needed whether it be to try and inspire someone, offer advice, or simply be a shoulder to cry on. She's got a sense of humor underneath everything as well; there's a reason that she and Noctis get along so well, after all.
She does her best to hide her hardships and any feelings of despair she feels, only showing her true feelings to her elder brother Ravus. This is shown on more than one occasion in game, where Ravus is confronting her about summoning the Astrals and the price she's paying for it: her life. He feels that she's throwing her life away, and she agrees, knowing that she's going to pass. She begins crying with anguish at the thought of not being able to spend time with Noctis, her one wish being to be able to stand at his side one last time, even if only for a short while.
While she tries to keep her feelings masked, at the end of the day, duties and formalities and titles be damned, Lunafreya is just a human being with feelings just like everyone else. Gentiana, a Messenger of the Gods, happens upon her crying at one point and blatantly asks Luna if she is really all that different from anyone else, and Luna, despite apologizing for showing her tears, states that she is not any different at all. She merely wishes to be with the one she loves most, but knows that she can never have that like everyone else. And it is something she has learned to accept and embrace over the course of her short life.
Luna is wise beyond her years, having taken on the role of Oracle at the age of twelve after her mother's death. She's intelligent and enjoys learning new things to keep up to date. And although she is, for the most part, a quiet, extremely compassionate person, she does not hesitate to speak up when the time calls for it. She's a strong-willed woman who works endlessly to prevent her world from falling into complete darkness and to ease the suffering of those who are affected by the Starscourge. She wants nothing more than to give a bright future to everyone, and will gladly talk about her hopes and dreams for that future, even though she knows that she will not be able to enjoy that future, at least not in a physical form.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
•Healing: Lunafreya has divine powers that allow her to heal injuries, though it's main use is actually for removing the plague known as the Starscourge from people. If the scourge is not dealt with, the infected will turn into a daemon. Considering that the Starscourge is [thankfully], not a game mechanic here, I'd imagine that her healing isn't going to be a big thing in use, and I am 100% not at all opposed to nerfing what she can and cannot heal.
•Forging covenants and convening with the Astrals: In her world, the Astrals are composed of 6 divine beings. As part of the Oracle bloodline, Luna is the only person on their star with the ability to not only speak to the Gods, but forge covenants with them as well. These covenants exist mostly for the Chosen King's benefit -- forging these covenants takes a huge toll on her, and drains her life force, more so than healing does [being an Oracle really sucks tbh]. Without the Six in game, there will be no need to use this mechanic at all.
INVENTORY:
•Trident of the Oracle: Gifted to the very first Oracle by the God Bahamut, the Trident is the ancestral weapon of the Oracle. It has been passed down from generation to generation. It is not only used for fighting, but it is also an item the Oracle carries when communicating with the Gods. This weapon is also a Royal Arm, meaning that it can also be wielded by the Kings of Lucis, too.
•Messenger Dogs: Pryna and Umbra, while they look like normal dogs, are actually divine beings. Literal messengers of the Astrals, they chose to take the form of dogs when they descended unto Eos. They are faithful companions to Lunafreya -- Umbra often acts as messenger boy between Noctis and Lunafreya, while Pryna opts to spend most of her time with Luna herself.
MOONBLESSING: Iris.
